Dr. David Gracon is a scholar and educator who has been teaching critical media literacy since 2000 in higher education (Eastern Illinois University/former Associate Professor, Gonzaga University/former Assistant Professor, University of Rochester/former Adjunct Professor), within international English language teaching and community-based workshops. He is a three-time U.S. Fulbright grant recipient in Romania (2023-2024 Scholar grant), Ukraine (2017-2018 Scholar grant) and Mongolia (Specialist grant fall 2024) all with a deep media literacy education focus. He is currently a volunteer educator with the U.S. Peace Corps Virtual Service Pilot with two Ukrainian Universities (remote) and runs
two independent startups: Media Literacy Access Initiative (MLAI) and David’s Fulbrighter Consulting (DFC). He is an adjunct professor of Media and Communication Arts at SUNY Erie. He earned his PhD in Media Studies from the University of Oregon (2010), MA in Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University (2023) and MA in Humanities (Media Study and Sociology) from SUNY Bucalo (2001).
